Vyapan scam: MP Governor quits from post

Bhopal, Feb 25 (IBNS): A day after a special task force registered an FIR against Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav in connection with the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, he stepped down from his post on Wednesday.

According to reports, the Madhya Pradesh Governor had been asked to resign by the Home Ministry after he was named in the FIR.

The Vyapan noose tightened on Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav as a special task force on Tuesday registered an FIR against him in connection with the MPPEB scam.

The scam is about manipulation in the selection process for government jobs conducted by the MPPEB by indulging in irregularities in the examination for the recruitment of grade ll and grade lll contractual teachers.

The STF, which has been probing the case, earlier lodged two FIRs against former technical education minister Laxmikant Sharma and 129 others, which is being probed by the STF.

The governor came on the radar of investigating agencies following his son, Shailesh's involvement in the scam.

On Friday, a division bench comprising Chief Justice A.M. Khanvilkar and Justice Alok Aradhe, gave the go ahead to the STF to initiate necessary action against the dignitary after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) monitoring the investigation into the scam, submitted two sealed envelopes.

The first envelope contained the name of a high-ranking dignitary while the second contained the status report of the STF investigation into the scam.
