New Delhi/IBNS: An hour after the Chief Election Commissioner announced the date of the Delhi Assembly polls, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said this time polling will be held by keeping in mind the work performed by the government for the betterment of the national capital.

"This time people of Delhi have decided they will break their record of 2015," he said while addressing a press conference.

"The poll will be held this time on the work done for the betterment of people," he said.

In his message to voters, Kejriwal said: " Vote for us only if you think we have performed well."

Kejriwal said people will vote by comparing the performance of the Delhi government with that of the Centre.

The Election Commission on Monday announced that Delhi will vote to elect a new Assembly on Feb 8.

Counting of votes will take place on Feb 11.

Addressing a press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said: "Model code of conduct shall be applicable in Delhi henceforth."

During the Delhi Assembly polls in 2015, the Aam Aadmi Party had dominated the proceedings as it won 67 seats.

The Bharatiya Janata Party bagged three while the Congress could not win a single seat.

This is the first major Assembly polls in 2020.

The BJP lost the last Assembly polls held in 2019 in Jharkhand.
