Vice Presidential Poll: Results to be declared soon

New Delhi, Aug 5 (IBNS): The result of the vice presidential election is likely to be announced later on Saturday.

The lawmakers cast their votes for the polls on Saturday.

According to media reports, 771 of 785 votes have exercised their franchise when polling closed at 5 pm.

Voting began at 10am and will conclude a 5pm.

NDA backed Venkaiah Naidu and Opposition's joint candidate Gopal Krishna Gandhi are in the fray for the Vice President election.

BJP veteran Naidu was the former Information and Broadcasting minister of the Modi government and also held various other portfolios.

Former Governor of West Bengal, Gopal Krishna Gandhi, was nominated by the 18 opposition parties as their candidate for the V-P poll.

Naidu is likely to become the next VP of the country as the BJP-led NDA dominates the share of electoral votes, according to reports.
