Kolkata/IBNS: Legendary playback singer Sandhya Mukhopadhyay, who specialises in Bengali music, has been admitted to a Kolkata hospital with Covid-19 and other health complications, reports said on Thursday.

The veteran singer was admitted to a government-run SSKM hospital in south Kolkata on Thursday morning with shortness of breath and other problems.

Later in the evening, she was shifted to a private health facility beside EM Bypass, after her Covid test report came positive.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the state government will make all necessary arrangements for the treatment of the singing legend.

Earlier on Jan 25, the 90-year-old singer refused to accept Padma Shri, saying "the award was more deserving of a junior artist and not someone of her stature".
