Veteran BSP leader Swami Prasad Maurya quits party
Political experts believe his resignation may be a blow for the BSP prior to the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Addressing the media, Maurya alleged that Mayawati is auctioning tickets to the highest bidder. He said, "Mayawati dalit nehi. Daulat ki beti hai" (Mayawati is not a daughter of the Dalits but that of wealth).
Mayawati, in turn, told the media that Maurya wanted that he, along with his son and daughter, be given tickets for the 2017 elections. But BSP does not support nepotism and that party was happy that he had quit, she said.
