Vande Bharat Express breaks down close to Tundla junction
Varanasi, Feb 16 (IBNS): Vande Bharat Express, India's fastest train, could not complete its full run as it broke down near the Tundla junction in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, media reports said.
According to railway officials, the train began making a “weird noise” early on Saturday morning after which its breaks jammed in one of the trailing coaches. Four coaches turned ‘dead load’, forcing loco pilots to halt, reported News 18.
Railway officials are reportedly suspecting that the train might have hit a cow on the track which might have left it stranded.
Passengers in the train, which include journalists, have been shifted to another train.
The train was returning to New Delhi from Varanasi.
It was scheduled to begin its commercial service from Sunday.
According to the train staff, the controls have failed and the snag is "unfixable" for now. The train will have to be taken to Delhi to fix the fault and it cannot be driven above 40 km per hour for now. It has also run out of water, reported NDTV.
The train was flagged off from Delhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.
