At least six people died after a car accident in Uttarakhand's Dehradun city when they were returning from a party, media reports said.

The car was damaged after it reportedly hit a truck on the ONGC Chowk on November 12.

The incident occurred around 1.30 pm.

According to reports, seven friends were returning in the car after drinking during a party.

One of the members, who was identified as Siddhesh Agrawal, was injured in the incident.

He is undergoing treatment at Synergy Hospital.

India Today reported that in the moments after the accident, Siddhesh's iPhone sent an emergency SOS to the police control room, which may have helped save his life.

Vipin Agrawal, Siddhesh's father, told India Today: "This is my appeal to everyone – six families have lost their children, they are overwhelmed with grief. My son is in the ICU. Please have some empathy and do not spread fake news and rumours that can send a wrong impression. Police are investigating the matter and the truth will come to light in due course."

Police are currently investigating the case.
