Kaushambi: A man killed his newly born child by slamming him on the ground allegedly in an inebriated state in the Saini area of Kaushambi district here in Uttar Pradesh, police said here on Friday.

Inspector Subhash Chaurasia said that Ravi Kumar Maury, a resident of Kesari village, had a dispute with his wife over some issue in an inebriated state late on Thursday night.

"During the course of altercation Ravi lifted his one and a half year old son Priyanshu with his leg and slammed him on the ground," he said.

He said that the child died on the spot after which Ravi fled from the scene.

"A case has been lodged on the complaint of child's mother Muskaan and efforts are being made to arrest Ravi," he said.
