An unidentified person shot dead a 51-year-old Chief Work Engineer of the Indian Air Force (IAF)   at his residence in the Central Air Command Complex in Puramufti area of Prayagraj district in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Satya Narayan Mishra.

According to reports, he was shot dead in the Engineer Colony inside the Air Force Station in the Bamrauli area.

After getting information, police, along with SOG, forensic and surveillance teams, went to the spot to investigate the incident.

They are investigating the CCTV cameras installed inside and outside the parameters around the Air Force.

"Along with this, the security arrangements made for the Air Force boundary are also being investigated, and evidence is being collected," Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Abhishek Bharti was quoted as saying by UNI.

Police sources told the Indian news agency that when Chief Work Engineer Satya Narayan Mishra was at his residence, an unidentified youth reached the spot and shot him from the window.

"Hearing the sound of firing, his wife and son reached his room and were shocked to see him soaked in blood. Air Force Police reached the spot and then the Chief Work Engineer was taken to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. The reason for the murder is not known yet," they said.
