Uttar Pradesh: Four of family killed, 1 injured as ambulance hit by unidentified vehicle

Unnao/UNI: Four members, including a woman and her three daughters, died and one injured when an ambulance was hit by an unidentified vehicle in Purwa area of Unnao district here in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, a police officer said here.

Circle Officer (CO) Purwa Deepak Singh said that Dhaniram Savita (73), a resident of Maurawan town, had died during treatment at Hallet hospital in Kanpur.

"Dhaniram's body was being brought back to Maurawan by his family members in an ambulance," he said.

He said that near Billeswar temple in Purwa area the ambulance was hit by an unidentified vehicle in the wee hours on Friday.

"Dhaniram's wife Prema Savita (70), daughtres Manjula (45), Anjali (40) and Ruby (30) were killed in the incident," he said.

The CO said that Dhaniram's daughter Sudha Savita (36) sustained serious injuries in the incident and has been sent to Hallet hospital Kanpur for treatment.

'The bodies have been sent to Unnao for postmortem examination. A case is being lodged on the complaint of other family members," he said.
