US looking forward to Narendra Modi's visit: John Kirby

Washington: A top official said the US is looking forward to Indian PM Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to the country.

US National Security Council (NSC) Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said India and the US share 'terrific cooperation' inside the Quad.

"The United States has a significant defense partnership with India and terrific cooperation inside the Quad, across the Indo-Pacific with India.  There’s a lot to talk about.  We’re looking forward to the visit," Kirby said in a press briefing.

Meanwhile, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on Tuesday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

NSA Sullivan briefed Prime Minister on the progress in various sectors of bilateral cooperation. He conveyed that the US President Biden looked forward to welcoming Prime Minister on the State Visit, read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

The PM expressed satisfaction at the growing and deepening Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between India and the US.

The Prime Minister said that he looked forward to a productive visit and an engaging conversation with President Biden on bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest.
