US condemns Pathankot attack, urges all countries to combat terrorism

Washington, Jan 3 (IBNS): The United States has condemned the terror attack on the air force base in Punjab's Pathankot district, which left three Indian Air Force (IAF) men killed.
Following the attack, the United States has also “urged all countries in the region to work together to disrupt and dismantle terrorist networks and to bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous act.”

In a statement, state department spokesperson John Kirby said: “The United States is committed to our strong partnership with the Indian government to combat terrorism.”

The attack on Pathankot air base is believed to be carried out by Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed that seeks independence for Kashmir.

The gun fight between the terrorists and the security forces lasted for nearly 15 hours.

Ending a day full of tensions, security forces neutralized all four terrorists who had attacked Pathankot air force of India in Punjab on Saturday.

As the search operation is currently underway in the Indian Air Force (IAF) frontier base near Pathankot town in Punjab on Sunday, security personnel have recovered bodies of all four terrorists, who were killed after a day-long gun-battle on Saturday, along with their weapons like AK 47s, mortars, grenade launchers and GPS (Global Positioning System) devices.
