Urban development ministry comes up with guidelines for parks

New Delhi, Jun 7 (IBNS): Union Urban Development Minister, M Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said that his ministry has come up with a basic guidelines for the management of parks.

Speaking at an event, the minister said, "My Ministry has come out with a “SwachhParks” SOP document, which provides guidelines on infrastructure norms, assessment and inspection procedures and checklists, and sanitation and waste management best practices to be followed in all parks."

Naidu said that he is hopeful that the new practices will contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Clean India' drive.

"Hope this will go a long way in improving the cleanliness of our parks and contribute towards ‘Swachh Bharat’," Naidu added.

He was speaking at 'A Pledge for the Planet Earth', a programme celebrating clean parks.

Tweeting his experience, Naidu said, "A Pledge for the Planet Earth - Celebrating Swachh Udyan Pakhwada, thematic drive focusing on cleanliness drives in forest sanctuaries, reserved forest areas, parks and animal welfare establishments."

The minister underlined the importance of maintaining the hygiene of the place.

"Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment in our parks,sanctuaries and forests is essential 2 maintain d virgin beauty of these places as well as maintaining the environmental balance," he said.

He also complimented the DDA for its initiative towards the maintenance of these parks.

"Compliments to DDA for this initiative for the parks under its jurisdiction. I am especially happy to note the green circuit initiative to interconnect the green spaces across Delhi, and providing sufficient number of toilets and sanitary infra for the comfort of visitors," Naidu said.
