UP: Two school students die after bus falls into canal

Lucknow, Sept 3 (IBNS): Two school students died after a bus fell into a canal in Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday evening, media reports said.

The incident took place when the students along with three teachers were returning from a picnic at the Rajdari fall in Naugrah, NDTV reported.

Six students- whose ages range from 10 to 17- and two teachers were injured.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against the bus driver, who is absconding, for negligence.

Police told the media there was negligence on the part of the school management as 17 people were travelling in the bus, which had the capacity of carrying eight to nine people.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the loss of lives and directed the officials to ensure treatment of the injured.
