Lucknow, Jan 12 (IBNS): An FIR has been registered against Uttar Pradesh transport minister and Samajwadi Party leader Gayatri Prasad Prajapati and two others for violating the model code of conduct in Fatehpur, according to media reports.

UP police lodged the FIR after 4,452 saris were recovered from a vehicle on its way to Amethi, media reported.

It was alleged that the saris were to be delivered to the minister’s aide Shailesh Mishra for distribution among the public.

According to local reports, the purchase report shown by the vehicle's driver had Prajapati's name on it.

Prajapati, an MLA from Amethi, has been given a ticket to the upcoming state Assembly elections by SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, according to local media reports.
