UP: NIA officer was shot 21 times in front of children

New Delhi, Apr 3 (IBNS): A National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer was on Saturday night shot dead in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor as he was returning from a wedding, media reports said.
The victim, identified as NIA Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohd Tanzil , was accompanied by his wife and children, when they were shot.
 
However, the couple's children, who were with them in the car, were not hurt.
 
The firing came from close range by unidentified gunmen on motorcycle in PS Seohara near Sahaspur district, said reports.
 
He was shot 21 times while his wife sustained four bullet injuries, Mohd Tanzil's brother, Raghib Ahmed, said.
 
The officer and his wife were immediately rushed to the hospital in Moradabad.
 
However, the NIA officer was declared brought dead by the hospital authorities.
 
His wife has been shifted to a hospital in Noida where her is stated to be critical.
 
According to reports, NIA and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) teams have reached the hospital where the body of the officer has been kept.
 
NIA officers said that Tanzil's body will be brought to Delhi on Sunday evening. 
 
Tanzil was from Border Security Force and had joined NIA on deputation six years ago.
