UP: 6 killed, 40 injured in Rae Bareli train accident

Rae Bareli, Mar 20 (IBNS): At least six people were killed and 40 others were injured as three coaches of the Janta Express train 1422 derailed at Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, reports said.

The accident occurred in Bachhrawan in Raebareli.

The Janta Express train runs between Dehradoon and Banaras.

"One engine and 2 coaches have been derailed. 40 people are reportedly injured and there may be some more casualties. Senior officials are already present at the spot," Neeraj Sharma, CPRO Northern Railways told CNN-IBN channel.

Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Ramlal said state Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is "upset with the incident."

He announced that Rs. two lakh rupees would be provided to the families of the dead while Rs. 50,000 would be given to the kins of those injured.

Minister of state railway Manoj Sinha informed that an inquiry has been ordered to probe the accident.
