UP: 5 dead, 6 injured after balcony wall collapses in Vrindavan

Mathura/IBNS/UNI: At least five people died, and half a dozen were injured when the balcony of a house and a small wall attached to it fell on the road near the Saneh Bihari temple built in Dusayat locality in Vrindavan town of Mathura district in UP on Tuesday.

SSP Shailesh Kumar Pandey said that the balcony of the first floor of Bagwala's house in Vrindavan's Dusayat locality and the small wall adjacent to it fell towards the street at around 6 pm today, due to which the local people and pilgrims passing by buried under the debris.

The people around and the police together took everyone out and sent them to the hospital where doctors declared five dead. It was raining lightly when the accident happened.

According to his statement, six individuals were injured, with two receiving initial aid and being discharged, while two were admitted to Ramakrishna Mission Hospital Vrindavan, one to Sau Shaya Hospital Vrindavan, and one to City Hospital Mathura.

As per the statement given by SP City Martand Prakash Singh, five individuals have been identified as the deceased. They are 50-year-old Geeta Kashyap, wife of SN Kashyap, who was a resident of Kanpur. Also among them was 52-year-old Rashmi Gupta, wife of Jitendra Gupta, who hailed from Kanpur as well. Another victim was 51-year-old Anju Murgan, wife of Sandeep Murgan, who resided in Vrindavan.

In addition, 28-year-old Chandan Rai, son of Harendra Raya and a resident of Deoria, lost his life in the tragedy. Another 35-year-old Arvind Kumar Yadav, son of Kameshwar Singh from Kanpur, was also among the deceased.

All the deceased individuals have been sent for postmortem examination.
