UP: 2nd phase of civic polls underway, Lucknow, Varanasi vote today

Lucknow, Nov 26 (IBNS): Twenty five districts of Uttar Pradesh including Varanasi, which is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency, are voting in the second phase of the civic polls in the state on Sunday.

This voting is seen as a major test for the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government.

A total of 1.29 crore people are scheduled to vote across 25 districts - including Lucknow and Mathura.

The second phase will see voting for 189 local bodies.

Following the voting,  Lucknow will get its first woman mayor in 100 years.

To make the election process fair and hassle free, drones fitted with cameras are being used in Mathura polling stations.

According to reports, 85 polling centres in Mathura have been selected for web casting, while videography would be done in 95 polling booths.

However, EVM machines in Ghaziabad reported several disturbances.

According to reports, the display on the machines were not show the timing as well as the date.

Meanwhile, Unhion Home Minister Rajnath Singh were among the early voters in Lucknow.

The results of the election will be declared on Dec 1.
