Uma Bharti threatens to "expose" Sonia Gandhi

Jhansi, Apr 18 (IBNS): Reacting to the Congress releasing her video, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti on Friday attacked its party president Sonia Gandhi and threatened to "expose" her.

"Congress knows it has already lost the battle. Hence it is doing these things. I pity the party. But I also want to make it clear that Sonia, Priyanka (Gandhi) and Rahul (Gandhi) should not rake up dead issues as their last resort during the elections," said Bharti.

"I am warning Sonia that if her party does not stop playing these tricks, we will expose her and after that she will have no option but to confine herself indoors," she said.

The Congress party on Thursday released a video clipping that showed Bharti calling BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi a "Vinash purush" (destructive man).

In the video, Bharti is heard saying, "I know him since 1973... He is not a Vikas Purush (development man) but a Vinash Purush (man of destruction)."

According to reports, Bharti has complained to the Election Commission (EC) for releasing the three-year-old video tape.

She told NDTV channel that she made the comments after she was expelled from the party.

"Even America has changed its mind about Modi," she said.

Bharti was expelled from the BJP in 2005 over a public spat with senior leader LK Advani.

She returned to the party in 2011 and is now contesting the Lok Sabha polls from  Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh.
