Mumbai/IBNS: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will announce the decision on lockdown tomorrow 8 pm, minister Rajesh Tope said on Tuesday, adding that all the ministers have requested him to clamp lockdown amid massive surge in coronavirus cases in the state.

"We have requested the CM to announce a complete lockdown in the state from tomorrow at 8 pm. This was the request of all ministers to CM, now it is his decision," Tope was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

On Tuesday, Maharashtra reported 58,924 coronavirus cases and 351 fatalities in a day.

Experts have blamed carelessness in following covid protocols and mutant strains as the two main reasons behind the fresh wave of coronavirus in the country.

Last month, Thackeray had asked the people to wear masks and maintain covid appropriate behaviour to curb the rising cases and avoid lockdown.
