Guwahati, Dec 3 (IBNS): Assam Rifles troopers have apprehended two NSCN-IM militants in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district, officials said.

Kohima based Defence PRO Colonel Chiranjeet Konwer said that, the Changlang Battalion of Assam Rifles on Dec 1 launched an operation at Mullong village on receiving information about two NSCN-IM militants who carried out extortion from the villagers.

The troops have nabbed two militants from the area and they were identified as Mohonong Tikhak and Ronong Tikhak.

Security personnel recovered a pistol along with live ammunition and other incriminating documents in possession from them.

"Changlang Battalion under the aegis of DAO DIVISION has been carrying out relentless operations in south Arunachal Pradesh to keep the area peaceful and out of clutches of insurgents and these apprehensions will go a long way in creating fear among the anti national elements in the area," Colonel Konwer said.

Security Forces have been carrying out aggressive operations in the South Arunachal Pradesh and this apprehension has struck a huge blow to the extortion activities being carried out by the militants of the group in the area.
