Truck turns turtle in Assam; 5 killed

Guwahati, Dec 3 : At least five people were killed and 40 others injured when a truck carrying people turned turtle in Assam’s West Karbi Anglong district on Sunday evening.

The incident took place at Mukhim road near Jirikingding area, which is about 245 km from Guwahati.

According to reports, people were returning to their homes after attending a pre-Christmas party.

The injured persons were immediately rushed to Kheroni civil hospital.

Two people including a 13-year-old minor died on spot and three others succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

A top police official said it is suspected that the truck driver might have been in an inebriated condition.
