Tripura withdraws 984 extremist-related cases

Agartala, Jul 28 (UNI): In pursuance to the decision of High Court of Tripura during the rule of previous Left front government, the state government has decided to withdraw a total of 984 extremist-related cases as.

The cabinet has recently cleared the nod in favour of the decision.

Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath said, "The extremist-related cases from March 10, 2018, to July 18, 2019, are withdrawn."

However, another157 pending petty cases were withdrawn as per an earlier direction of High Court division bench but none of such case the state government approved to withdraw major cases and case related to rape incidents.

He appealed the victims’ political incidents of the state who were deprived of getting justice during the rule of the previous government to file a case with an appropriate probe with the additional secretary of the Home department.

Tripura government has earlier constituted a committee to bring justice to the political victims of this state.
