Tripura TMC chief Pijush Kanti Biswas quits party

| @indiablooms | Jul 26, 2023, at 12:36 am

Agartala: In a setback for Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress, the party’s Tripura chief Pijush Kanti Biswas stepped down from the post and quit the primary membership of the party, media reports said.

He informed his decision to TMC chief Mamata Banerjee in a letter.

His exit is being considered a major loss for the party for his stature and influence as a senior politician and advocate.

He joined the Mamata Banerjee-led party in December 2022, crossing over from the Congress months ahead of the Tripura assembly elections.

Trinamool has been focussing on Tripura, one of the seven states in northeast India, where a considerable population is Bengali speaking.
