Tripura assembly poll: CM Manik Sarkar, four ministers and 20 Left Front MLAs file their nominations

 Guwahati, Jan 29 (IBNS): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Monday filed his nomination for ensuring the assembly poll to be scheduled on Feb 18 next.

 Manik Sarkar Minister had filed his nomination from his home constituency Dhanpur in Sipahijala district.

Sarker has been in office since 1998 and elected to the Tripura assembly from the Dhanpur constituency for consecutive four terms.

Tripura is go to polls on February 18 next and result for all 60 assembly constituencies to be declared on March 3.

After filing nomination, the Tripura CM said that, this time we will make a history as win the election by a wider margin.

Apart from Manik Sarkar, his colleague minister Naresh Jamatiya, Ratan Bhaumick filed their nominations from Bagma and Kakrabon constituencies in Gomati district.

On the other hand, state Education minister Tapan Chakraborty had submitted papers from Chandipur constituency in North Tripura district, while Sports minister Shahid Chowdhury filed his nomination from Boxanagar constituency in Boxanagar district.

Earlier, state PWD minister Badal Chowdhury had filed his nomination from Hrishyamukh constituency in South Tripura district.

At least 20 others legislators of the ruling Left Front had submitted their papers from different parts of the state.

The CPIM-led Left front has been in power in the north eastern Indian state since 1993.
