Tragedy in the skies: Five IAF personnel killed in AN-32 crash in Assam
Jorhat/IBNS: Five Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel were killed after an AN-32 transport aircraft crashed in Assam's Jorhat on Saturday morning, according to media reports.
The aircraft reportedly met with the accident during a routine sortie at around 10 am.

Five Personnel Make Supreme Sacrifice
The Indian Air Force identified the deceased personnel as:
- Squadron Leader Prashant Singh
- Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar
- Sergeant Jitendra Sharma
- Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat
- Agniveervayu Danish Alam

Aircraft Crashed During Routine Sortie
Sharing details of the incident, the IAF said the aircraft met with an accident while undertaking a routine sortie.
"An IAF An-32 aircraft met with an accident during a routine sortie today at approximately 1000h at Jorhat, Assam," the force said.
Inquiry Underway
The IAF said crash site management operations and preliminary inquiries are currently underway.
"Crash site management and initial enquiries are on at this time. IAF requests everyone to refrain from speculation till preliminary results are not in," the statement added.

"A court of inquiry is being constituted, to ascertain the cause of the accident," the IAF said.
The inquiry is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash and the subsequent fire.
