New Delhi/IBNS: The farmers protesting against the newly-formed farm laws can enter Delhi on Republic Day but cannot disrupt the Republic Day parade, the Delhi Police said while giving permission for the tractor rally on January 26.

"Protesting farmers can enter Delhi but can't disturb the Republic Day parade," the Delhi Police was quoted as saying in media this evening.

However, the rally can be held only after the Republic Day parade in Rajpath is over, the police  added as a precondition to the tractor rally.

According to media reports, the police gave the green signal after two rounds of meeting. The farmers' unions assured that the procession will be peaceful and cover only the Ring Road which encircles the national capital.

Police said the tractor rally was allowed to show respect to the farmers.

The rally will start at around 11:30 am when the Republic Day parade ends. However, the number of tractors to be allowed for the procession hasn't been decided yet.

The rally will be provided under strict security cover, police said and added that the personnel deployed for Republic Day celebrations will have to be shifted to different points to ensure a peaceful tractor rally.

Farmers camping across Delhi border will have to enter the city to access the Ring Road.

Police said the farmers can enter Delhi for few kilometres and then exit from different points. The route has been set in such a way that it can be protected, police added.
