Tollywood actress Rituparna Sengupta appears before ED in Bengal ration scam probe

Kolkata/IBNS: Tollywood superstar Rituparna Sengupta on Wednesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) days after she was summoned in connection with the alleged ration scam in West Bengal.

Rituparna was asked to appear before the ED on June 5.

The actress had delayed the appearance citing she was abroad.

Former West Bengal Minister of Food and Supplies Jyotipriya Mallick was arrested by the ED last year in connection with the alleged scam.

The ED, which is probing the money trails of the alleged irregularities in the statutory ration distribution system, has information that the arrested businessman Bakibur Rahaman has huge businesses in Bengal, Mumbai, and even in Dubai worth nearly 100 crores of rupees.

Reports claim Bakibur had rapport with Mallick when the latter was the state food supplies minister in the previous Mamata Banerjee government.
