Hyderabad, Nov 13 (IBNS) : The  toll in the boat capsize incident in Krishna River near Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh rose to  19 following the recovery of three more bodies on Monday morning, reports said.

Bodies of nineteen tourists  have been recovered so far after the boat capsized in Krishna river late on Sunday.

State disaster response and fire services department’s director general N Satyanarayana said while two bodies were recovered by teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), another was fished out by personnel of his department.

Police said that the boat belonged to a private company and even though it was ferrying around 35 people, it did not have the licence to operate.

A rescued person later said that the boat did not have any life jackets.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is presently visiting Philippines to attend the ASEAN Summit, condoled the loss.

A statement from the official Twitter account of PMO India read: "Capsizing of a boat in the Krishna River is anguishing. My thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives in this tragedy. Andhra Pradesh Government and @NDRFHQ have been working on rescue operations: PM @narendramodi."

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has called it an 'unfortunate' incident and said that the victims will be backed by the government.

He has also ordered senior officials to investigate the issue and take actions.

At least 60 members of National Disaster Response Force, along with 45 members of State Disaster Relief Forces and the fire service teams carried out the rescue operations.
