Kolkata/Howrah, Jan 25 (IBNS): Alleging that railway's extension project is damaging adjoining areas' drainage system, a large number of Trinamool Congress (TMC) activists, led by local TMC MLA Jatu Lahiri, blocked railway tracks near Santragachi station in Kolkata's twin city Howrah on Wednesday morning, disrupting rail service in South-Eastern section in the pick morning hours, reports said.

According to reports, TMC leader-activists had started the rail blockade between Santragachi and Ramrajatala stations since 10:15 am. and few locals also joined the demonstration later.

Due to the hour-long blockade, train service was hit and office bound commuters suffered a lot.

However, after railway officials asserted the agitators to solve their problem, blockade was withdrawn nearly after two hours.
