TMC leading in WB civic polls

Kolkata, Apr 28 (IBNS): The ruling Trinamool Congress is leading as counting of votes in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections and the 91 civic bodies in West Bengal started on Tuesday.

At around, 10:30 am, in the KMC, the TMC is leading in 72 seats, Left Front in 11, BJP 8, the Congress 6 while others are ahead in 3 seats.

In the state civic bodies, the TMC is currently ahead in 50 seats.

The Left Front is leading in five seats while the Congress is ahead in six seats.

Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee won from ward no. 131.

There are 7,636 candidates who contested for 1,946 wards of the 91 municipal bodies across West Bengal on Saturday.

Polling for the  144-seat KMC was held on Apr 18.
