TMC fighting for its survival, BJP winning maximum seats in Bengal: PM Modi

New Delhi/Kolkata/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has predicted that his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to win the highest number of seats in West Bengal, throwing out a challenge to the powerful regional party Trinamool Congress (TMC), in the Lok Sabha elections.

In an interview with ANI, Modi said, "TMC party is fighting for survival in the Bengal elections. This time, the best-performing state in India is going to be West Bengal. BJP is getting maximum success in West Bengal."

"TMC party is fighting for its existence in the Bengal elections. In the last Assembly elections, we were 3 and the people of Bengal took us to 80 (seats), we got a huge majority in the last Lok Sabha elections. This time, the best-performing state in India is going to be West Bengal. BJP is getting maximum success in West Bengal," he added.

The Prime Minister said, "The election of West Bengal is one-sided, people are leading it and because of those people sitting in the government, TMC people are frustrated... BJP workers are being put in jails before the elections. Despite all these atrocities, more people are voting and the number of votes is also increasing."

Responding to the Calcutta High Court's decision to cancel the OBC certificates issued by the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal after 2010, Modi said, "When the High Court's judgment came, it became clear that such a big fraud was taking place. But what is even more unfortunate is that for vote bank politics, now they are also abusing the judiciary...

"This situation cannot be acceptable under any circumstances."

Modi will hold a roadshow for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Kolkata North candidate, Tapas Roy, in the northern part of the city on Tuesday.

Modi will begin his campaign on Tuesday from Barasat where he is scheduled to a public meeting at 2:30 pm.

The Prime Minister will hold a public meeting in Jadavpur at 4 pm.

In the evening, Modi will hold a roadshow from Shyambazar to Simla Street.

The Prime Minister, who is the chief campaigner of the BJP, will begin the roadshow paying floral tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at 5:55 pm.

He will conclude the roadshow paying floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda at Vivekananda's House in Simla Street at 7 pm.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had surprised the TMC winning 18 seats while the ruling party's tally fell from 34 to 22.
