Time to tell our side of the story: Priya Ramani tweets after court summons her in MJ Akbar defamation case

New Delhi, Jan 29 (IBNS):  A Delhi court on Tuesday summoned journalist Priya Ramani to appear before it on Feb 25 in connection with the defamation case filed by former Union minister MJ Akbar against her.

The defamation case was filed by Akbar after she levelled allegations of sexual misconduct against him.

Akbar had denied the allegations.

As per News 18 report, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal issued the direction on Akbar's plea.

Priya Ramani tweeted: "Time to tell our side of the story :)."

As the #MeToo campaign gained momentum in India several women journalists have levelled charges of sexual harassment against MJ Akbar, a former journalist.

Priya Ramani was first among them to raise her voice directly against the former Minister.

Akbar resigned from his position last year.

The #MeToo movement in India virtually started after allegations of former actor Tanushree Dutta against veteran actor Nana Patekar.

Dutta accused Patekar of harassing her on the sets of a film 10 years ago.
