Three suspected Islamist fundamentalists nabbed in Assam

Guwahati, Sept 16 (IBNS) : Security forces on Wednesday apprehended three suspected Islamist fundamentalists from Assam’s Chirang district, police said.

BTAD IGP Dr LR Bisnoi said that, following a tip-off police had launched operation and nabbed the fundamentalists and they were identified as Minarul Islam, Johrul Haque and Badiur Zamal Sheikh.

“Minarul was undergoing training along with nine others from lower Assam districts Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Baska, Nalbari and Kokrajhar and the training was conducted in Daukhanagar area under Dhaligaon police station in Chirang district from September 7. The main organizer was a person named Ashiq alias Bura Bhai of Howly area in Barpeta district,” Dr Bisnoi said.

Police had recovered some training equipments in possession from them.
