Three killed, 250 injured in Kashmir day long violence

Kashmir has fallen prey to a violent unrest following the death of militant Burhan Muzafar Wani on July 8 in South Kashmir.

With the death of three more people on Friday, the toll reached 56.

Separatist groups had asked people to reach Dargah Hazrathbal shrine prompting the authorities to impose strict curfew in the Valley.

Authorities have imposed curfew and restrictions in Srinagar city and other districts of the Valley.

Soon after the congregational  prayers on Friday, scores of youths poured into the streets shouting anti-India slogans ensuing clashes.

Reports also said massive protests were held across the Valley on call of separatist camps after prayers.

Senior police official in Srinagar told IBNS: “We are trying maximum restraint during the protest and we did not want any fatalities during the stone pelting.”

He further said, "We have received strict instructions from higher authorities to minimize human casualty during the clashes."

Two persons were killed by security forces during stone throwing clashes in Budgam district of Central Kashmir.

Muhammad Maqbool Khanday of Lolipora Nagam received grievous head injury resulting in his on-spot death, sources said.

Another youth Zahoor Ahmad of Beerwah Budgam succumbed to his injuries at SMHS hospital.

He has been shifted to Srinagar in a critical condition after being hit by a bullet.

Late on Friday, Danish Rasool Mir of North Kashmir died of pellet injuries during clashes with security forces in Sopore area of north Kashmir.
