Three doctors fined for medical negligence in Maharashtra

Parbhani, Feb 28 (UNI) The Parbhani District Consumer Forum on Wednesday slapped a fine of Rs.70,000 to the city-based three gynecologists for showing medical negligence and irresponsibility during the surgery of a female patient in 2018.

The doctors are identified as Dr. Shruti Dubbed, Dr. Shilpa Sabu and Dr. Ramesh Ahuja.

Delivering the judgement, A G Satpute, the forum chairman said the complainant, Mangala Range from Jaamb village in the district was admitted in the Vitai hospital in Parbhani for the treatment.

While doing a surgery, some complications emerged and it was needed her to be shifted to another hospital in Aurangabad. The doctors also assured her to get back all the expenses of her treatment.

Later, she was treated at the Kamalayan Bajaj Hospital in Aurangabad.

When, the patient asked about her expenses, they denied, and so Ms Range filed a complaint with Parbhani District Consumer Forum.

The doctors have asked to pay Rs 70,000 as a fine and 9 per cent interest and additional Rs.6,000 for physical harassment for within 30 days, it added.
