Three arrested with illegal arms on Assam-Arunachal border

Guwahati, Mar 15 (IBNS): Ahead of the Lok Sabha election, police arrested three persons and seized illegal arms from them at Bandardewa along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Thursday evening.

Based on intelligence inputs, Lakhimapur district police had launched operation at Bandardewa and made the arrests.

The police have seized two .303 bore pistols with magazines and seven rounds live ammunition from the accused.

The arrested persons were identified as Prabin Mili, Saurav Doley and Anthony Doke.

Police suspected the arrested persons planned to create unrest in the area ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

The Lok Sabha elections in Assam will be held on April 11, 18 and 23.

Security have been beefed up across the state.
