Those found smuggling cows will be killed warns BJP lawmaker from Rajasthan

Alwar, Dec 25 (IBNS): A BJP lawmaker from Rajasthan has threatened that those found smuggling and slaughtering cows will be killed, according to media reports.

BJP-governed Rajasthan has seen a spate of violence over alleged cow smuggling in the recent past.

"Mera toh seedha seedha kehna hai ki gautaskari aur gaukashi karoge to yu hi maroge (If you smuggle and slaughter cows, then you will be killed). The cow is our mother," BJP lawmaker Gyan Dev Ahuja was reported as saying by NDTV while giving his reaction on the incident of mob beating up an alleged cow smuggler on Saturday.

According to reports, Zakir Khan drove through a police barricade when he was asked by them to stop his truck carrying eight cows. The villagers pulled him out of the truck and beat him up while three others who were with him escaped.

Police claimed the men in the truck fired at them, media reported.

The BJP legislator also rubbished the claim that the mob attacked Khan; he said that Khan was wounded when the truck overturned as people gave chase, reported NDTV.

Incidentally, Alwar has recorded the highest number of cases filed under the Rajasthan Bovine Act for cow protection this year, according to media reports.
