The problem with the government is that it believes only Modi has knowledge: Rahul Gandhi

Jammu, Aug 26 (IBNS): Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday attacked the Centre and said the problem is that it believes that PM Narendra Modi is the only person who has 'knowledge'.

"The problem with this government is that it believes that only PM Modi has gyaan (knowledge)," Modi told media.

Speaking on the issue of  One Rank One Pension scheme, Gandhi said: "Modiji had promised OROP but today our ex-servicemen are on a hunger strike."

"The PM should look into the issue," he said.

Gandhi made the remarks as he visited Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

As the Narendra Modi government continues to face the heat of ex-servicemen's agitation over the One Rank One Pension scheme,  the health of  another fasting Army veteran on a fast unto death is deteriorating.

Reports said Havaldar (retired) Major Singh, who is on fast unto death since August 16, could also be evacuated on Tuesday, just a  just a day after Army veteran Colonel Puspender Singh was taken to Army Research and Referral Hospital.

Reports quoted the doctors as saying that  Colonel Singh condition is now improving and he was evacuated in time.

Three ex-servicemen Colonel (retired) Pushpender Singh of 3 Grenadiers, Havaldar Major Singh of 3 Sikh Light Infantry and Havaldar (retired) Ashok Chauhan of Signals regiment are on a fast unto death after PM Modi failed to announce the implementation of the scheme during his Independence Day speech.

Close to 22 lakh ex-servicemen and over six lakh war widows are to be benefited if the scheme is implemented.
