Telangana: Bus falls into gorge, 40 die

Hyderabad, Sept 12 (IBNS): At least 40 people were killed as a bus, in which they were traveling, dropped in a gorge in Telangana's Jagtiyal district on Tuesday. 

As per local media reports,  20 others were injured in the incident.

A  TSRTC bus was reportedly involved in the mishap.

The bus belonging to the Jagtial depot with more than 60 passengers was proceeding from Shanivarampeta village to Jagtial via Kondagattu ghat road and Muthyampet villages when it plunged into the gorge, reported The Hindu.

Jagtial Collector A. Sharath, SP Sindhu Sharma and Karimnagar Police Commissioner Kamalhasan Reddy, and other officials went to the spot after the mishap occurred.

The bodies have been reportedly taken to  Jagtial Area Hospital.

The injured people have been taken to hospital for treatment.

Chief Minister K.Chandrashekhar Rao expressed his sadness over the loss of lives in the incident.

He has announced Rs. 5 lakhs ex-gratia to the family members of the deceased, reported The Hindu.
