Goa/IBNS: Tehelka magazine's founder-editor Tarun Tejpal has been acquitted of a rape case by a court in Goa, media reports said.

The judgement was about to be delivered on Wednesday but could not due to power failure over Cyclone Tauktae.

Tejpal was accused of raping a junior colleague.

He was alleged to have raped a junior colleague in 2013 in a hotel elevator at an annual event organised by the magazine in Goa.

In an internal email, he had claimed that the incident was a “lapse of judgment”.

Tejpal was arrested in 2013. He has been out on bail since May 2014.

The accused has also cried political vendetta by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Goa.
