New Delhi/IBNS: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Ram Mohan Naidu, who has been inducted into the Modi cabinet on Sunday, has turned out to be the youngest ever Union Minister in the country, media reports said.

Naidu, 36, is the son of senior TDP leader and former Union Minister Kinjarapu Yerran Naidu, who died in an accident in 2012.

In 2014, Naidu contested the Srikakulam constituency, which was held by his father, at the age of just 26 and repeated his win in 2019 and 2024.

In the 2024 polls, Naidu defeated YSRCP candidate 3,20,000 votes.

Naidu, whose father was a Rural Development Minister in the United Front Government from 1996 to 1998, didn't enter into politics with much plans.

An alumnus of Delhi Public School in New Delhi, Naidu studied electrical engineering followed by MBA in the United States. He then moved to Singapore to work.

In 2012, Naidu rushed back to India after his father died of a road accident.

In Parliament, Naidu headed a number of committees including the ones pertaining to agriculture, animal husbandry et al.

The TDP MP was vocal in favour of the menstrual health and sex education, removal of Good and Services Tax on sanitary napkins.
