Tanzil Ahmed murder : Two arrested say personal grouse behind the crime

| | Apr 12, 2016, at 07:42 pm
New Delhi, Apr 12 (IBNS) Police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of Tanzil Ahmed and learned from them that the NIA officer was shot dead over personal grouse, reports said.

Ahmed was riddled with bullets earlier this month by two men on a bike as he was on way home in Uttar Pradesh's Shahaspur after attending a wedding. His wife, who was with him, was injured and has been undergoing treatment.

Bareilly police said on Tuesday that  one of the killers was unhappy as he did not get help from the officer regarding a case.

The police said the man driving the bike was Reyaan. His accomplice, Muneer, who fired   the shots, is yet to be arrested.

Tanzil, 45, was investigating a host of terror cases including some against suspected ISIS sympathisers, and a joint team of security agencies has been investigating whether his murder was linked to his work.

His murder raised question whether the crime was linked to the investigations he had undertaken.
