Suspected terrorists attack CRPF camp in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 15 (IBNS): Police on Thursday evening said some heavily armed terrorists attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp at Panzgam in Awantipora of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

According to police official, some terrorists opened fire on the Central Reserve Police Force camp near railway station Awantipora this evening.

“Firing continued for few minutes from both sides without causing any damage to our camp. However, taking advantage of the darkness, terrorists fled from the area,” CRPF official said.

Following the attack, forces’ personnel comprising Jammu and Kashmir police, army's Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF rushed to the spot and conducted searches to nab the terrorists.

On Monday, two terrorists attempted to sneak into a CRPF camp in Srinagar’s Karan Nagar but the effort was foiled by security forces. Later two terrorists were killed in a 30-hour-long battle.

The attack came amid heightened security in Jammu and Kashmir following Saturday’s JeM attack at the army’s Sunjuwan camp. At least 11 people, including civilians, were injured in the attack.
