Srinagar, May 4 (IBNS): Suspected militants on Friday evening shot dead a 45-year-old man and injured his wife indiscriminate firing upon them at Harwan village, located in the outskirts of  Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Sources told India Blooms , unknown gunmen barged into the residence of Mohammad Ashraf Mir and fired on him while his wife Saima also received serious bullet injuries at around 9:30pm.

Both were rushed to Sub-Dist hospital Sopore where Ashraf was declared brought dead.

"Yes we received both in injured condition but Asrhaf succumbed to his injuries. His wife has been shifted to Srinagar Hospital for advanced treatment as she received bullet injuries in both legs," Block Medical Officer Dr Sami told India Blooms.

"It is premature to say something. We have registered a case into the incident," Senior Superintendent of Police Javaid Iqbal told India Blooms.

He said initial investigations revealed that Ashraf was a driver by profession.

Meanwhile after the incident, security forces have launched massive searches in the area to nab the attackers .
