| @indiablooms | Feb 10, 2020, at 12:50 pm

New Delhi/UNI: The Supreme Court on Monday upheld the validity of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act of 2018.

The act was enacted to nullify the effects of the Mar 20, 2018 judgment of the court which had diluted the provisions of the Act.

In its judgement, a bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra, said, "Unless the SC/ST Act is enforced in true letter and spirit, dream of establishing a class-less society would remain a mirage."

The apex court was hearing the petitions seeking modification of its earlier order.
