Supporters of Congress MLA vandalise party office in Pune, 19 arrested

Pune/IBNS: The Maharashtra Police on Tuesday arrested 19 people, who happen to be the supporters of Bhor Congress MLA Sangram Thopte, for vandalising an office of the grand old party here, media reports said.

The supporters a day ago protested against the non-inclusion of Thopte in the Maharashtra cabinet, which was expanded by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday.

"We arrested 19 people who were involved in rioting, stone-pelting and vandalism at the Congress Bhavan. They were later released on bail," an official at Shivajinagar police station said as quoted by Times Now.

After the expansion, the current strength of the cabinet is 43.

Not only Congress, several MLAs of Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) are also reportedly unhappy over their non-inclusions in the cabinet which found a place for first-time Worli MLA and son of the Chief Minister, Aaditya Thackeray.

The Sena, NCP and Congress have formed the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra after Uddhav's party called off its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which is the single largest party in the state.
