Suleimani death: Protests hit normal life in Budgam

| @indiablooms | Jan 04, 2020, at 04:36 pm

Srinagar/UNI: Normal life was crippled on Saturday as shops and business establishments were closed for the second straight day against killing of an Iranian Army general in a US airstrike.

However, public and private transport was plying normally in the Shia dominated Budgam district, which witnessed massive protests on Friday against the killing.

A police official said there was no restriction in any part of Budgam though security forces have been deployed in strength to maintain law and order.

Even though there was no strike call given by any group, shops and business establishments were closed since early morning against the killing of Qassem Suleimani on Friday.

Meanwhile, massive protests rocked many Shia dominated areas in Kashmir and Kargil in the UT of Ladakh against the killing.

Suleimani and several others were killed in the US drone airstrike when the local allies from Popular Mobilisation Units (PMU) were driving him from Baghdad airport on Friday morning.
