Submit report on Gyanvapi's survey by Dec 11: Varanasi court to ASI

Varanasi/IBNS/UNI: The Varanasi district court Thursday granted an additional 10 days to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to submit its report on the scientific survey of the Gyanvapi complex and directed the agency to positively file the same by December 11.

The ASI on Tuesday moved an application in the district court praying to be granted an additional three weeks time to submit its scientific survey report on Gyanvapi mosque.

While admitting the application partially, District Judge Dr Ajaya Krishna Vishvesha ordered the ASI to submit a scientific survey report of the Gyanvapi mosque complex on December 11.

The Anjuman Intezamia Masajid committee, which looks after the day-to-day affairs of Gyanvapi mosque, had objected to the delay.

The court said, "I find it proper to grant 10 days more time to ASI to file the report in the court. This court expects that within the provided time, the ASI shall positively file the report and will not seek further time. Fix December 11 for hearing and disposal of the survey report."

The Varanasi District Court had on July 21 ordered the scientific survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex by the ASI, excluding the wazookhana, which was sealed after a Shivling-like structure was found there last year.
